You smashed it! 75% of care providers publish their DSPT

July 1st 2024

Almost 75% of care providers have published their Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) by the 30 June deadline – smashing the target of 70%.

“This is so impressive – and important,” says Michelle Corrigan, Programme Director of Better Security, Better Care. “It shows that, despite the enormous pressures on care providers, they are really aware of the importance of checking and improving their data and cyber security arrangement. Congratulations to all of those who have completed their DSPT and to those who are almost there: please keep going.”

“We are particularly pleased to see the dramatic increase in homecare services using the toolkit. More than 63%% have completed the DSPT, compared to just 4% in May 2021.

“Ultimately, of course, we want all care providers to take advantage of the DSPT and our free support programme.

“Thank you to our 28 support partners across the country – we really couldn’t do it without you.”

The DSPT is the official self-assessment tool to help care providers to check their data and cyber security policies, procedures and practices. Better Security, Better Care is the free national and local support programme helping care providers to complete the toolkit and put what it has revealed into practice.

Compliance with the DSPT has risen rapidly from just 15% in 2021 when the support programme started – to almost 75% (20,278) today.

Care providers who have almost completed their DSPT and need support with the final stages are invited to attend a webinar on 2 July. Book here.

They can also contact their local support organisation or the Better Security, Better Care national helpline.
